I chose baubles in three colours - clear, green and gold and in three different sizes. I added some ribbon to each and tied it onto the banister.
Then I realised what a poor state my banister was in. No amount of cleaning would make it look better. So in my wisdom I decided to repaint my staircase banister one week before Christmas. To give you a little perspective - that's 7 large posts with ball tops and 50 banister posts - all with 4 sides and bevelled edges (so 8 sides each). and the hand rail. All of this had to be sanded, primed, and then 2 coats of gloss paint.
So finally I can photograph the baubles hanging on my stairs (you can see my reflection in the baubles).
Now it's time to relax and enjoy the holidays.
Looks like your pairing really paid off! The ornament look beautiful against your glossy banister. Happy Holidays, Laura
ReplyDeleteAnd I thought I was the only person who did crazy things like repainting rooms/banisters 1 week before Christmas!! Looks fabulous though and the baubles really set it off.
ReplyDeleteGood job. ;)Sharyne
Good effort Kylie,it all looks lovely and fresh
ReplyDeleteGood grief, Kylie!!! That's an awful lot of work...but it looks fantastic! I should have done the same thing (painting), but I just couldn't work up that much energy. Maybe that will be a winter task that I can slowly work through! :-) I love the way you did the baubles on ribbon...beautiful! That's an idea I'll have to stow away in my memory bank for the future. Thanks for getting back to me re: Boxing Day. THIS time I had to look up the cricket test on Wikipedia. Sounds a little like our playoffs for the Super Bowl (American football). It's always so interesting and fun to explore the customs and acitivites of different countries! I've never been to Australia, but my niece has and she LOVED it there!!! She didn't want to come back to the U.S.!!! Have a beautiful week, and a wonderful Christmas! (Do you celebrate the New Year on January 1 there?)
